The 2015 Mazda CX-5 has earned the highest possible overall five-star safety rating from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The perfect score applies to front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions of the 2015 CX-5.
Although the CX-5 has not yet been rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, it is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, and had earned “good” scores in all crash tests. At this point, it’s difficult to directly compare vehicles, since federal safety scores are just beginning to be released for 2015 models. According to Edmunds.com, “it should be noted that the 2015 CX-5 already outpaces several competitors in this area, including the 2014 Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4, which earned four-star overall ratings”.
Every CX-5 comes with standard antilock brakes, stability and traction control, daytime running lights, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Mazda also provides the option for an automatic crash notification feature.
