Mazda made a serious appearance at this year’s SEMA Show, with two flashy concepts that turned heads throughout the entire event. Both concepts are custom editions of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata – one is a soft-top Spyder and the other an open top Speedster.
The silver MX-5 Spyder has a carbon fiber aero kit, grille intake, and body tonneau cover, as well as 17-inch racing wheels and a maroon-accented top. Contrastingly, the “Blue Ether” MX-5 Speedster is a teal blue, with no top at all.
The Speedster also boasts an incredibly low weight, approximately 200 pounds less than the Spyder. No doubt this teal stunner would be impressively fuel-efficient, with such a trim figure.
Of course, neither of these cars is scheduled to actually go into production, but it does give us an insightful look into what Mazda is currently working on. And we at Steet-Ponte Mazda certainly have no complaints about models such as these.
