With the donation of one of the exclusive 2016 MX-5 Launch Edition models, Mazda helped raise $50,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The very special edition MX-5 was auctioned as part of the hospital’s Hope in the Hamptons fundraising event.
“We set aside one of the MX-5 Launch Editions for a special occasion such as this and when the opportunity arose to be part of the St. Jude Hope in the Hamptons event, we felt this was the perfect way to support a great charity partner,” said Russell Wager, vice president of marketing for Mazda North American Operations.
“St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital does amazing things to help kids who are faced with horrible illness and we are honored to help raise money for their cause any chance we get.”
The special edition MX-5 is painted in Soul Red and matched with a Sport Tan leather interior. The model is based on the MX-5 Grand Touring and features special badging as well as a Bose® Mini SoundLink® portable stereo system and gifts from the Mazda Heritage Collection apparel line.
The donation was made possible by the Mazda Drive for Good® program, which began just two years ago and has already given more than $7.6 million and pledged over 120,000 hours of volunteer service.
