SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS Announced by Mazda

Mazda SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYANMICSEarlier this month Mazda announced SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS which is a serious of new-generation vehicle motion control technologies. G-Vectoring Control is the first in the series and will be introduced across the entire Mazda lineup. The first Mazda model to receive this for the North American market will be the 2017 Mazda6 and it will be released later this year.

SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS will be part of the SKYACTIV Technology suite and provide integrated control of the transmission, engine, chassis and body. This will enhance the car’s Jinba Ittai which is a sense of connectedness between car and driver that distinguishes Mazda vehicles.

Mazda is looking to enhance their customer’s driving experience while increasing their satisfaction and the “bond” people have with their Mazda vehicles. Mazda aims to have customers enjoy driving their vehicles.

The 2015 Mazda3 is expected to debut this fall, and drivers can anticipate the compact sedan to have some seriously epic changes. Empty Lighthouse Magazine reports the new car has “exceptional efficiency due to Mazda SKYACTIV technology and the implementation of the innovative Mazda Connect infotainment interface.”

For those unfamiliar with SKYACTIV technology, it simply means that the 3 will carry a 155 horsepower engine that will allow the vehicle to gallop at an impressive 41 MPG on the highway. The aforementioned Connect interface does exactly what the name says; it connects your cellphone via Bluetooth. The Car Connection says “text-to-voice technology lets the system read e-mail and SMS messages aloud through the car’s audio system.”

For the safety buffs, the Mazda3 has blind-spot monitoring and Smart City Brake Support that automatically stops the car to prevent a crash. Better yet? The car will stop even if the breaks are not pressed by the driver. Now you can’t get much safer than that!

The new 2015 Mazda 3 is astoundingly affordable, costing under $18,000. So what are you waiting for? Get yours at Steet Ponte Mazda!

Diesel Mazda6: A Mean Machine We Want

2014 Mazda6We have to admit that we are pouting – we want the diesel-powered Mazda6! The Skyactiv-D version of the 4-door sedan is not only powerful, but it’s incredibly quiet. We’ll just call it stealthy.

According the automobilemag.com, the diesel Mazda6 is available almost everywhere in the world – except here in the U.S. The engine can’t currently meet California’s demanding emissions standards while still maintaining the level of performance Mazda demands from its vehicles. Currently Mazda is waiting on engineering developments that will allow the car to meet emissions requirements while still putting out the power Mazda fans have come to expect.

“We didn’t think the powertrain was ‘zoom-zoom’ enough,” Mazda North America CEO Jim O’Sullivan told Automobile Magazine.

The 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel is the second phase of Mazda’s Skyactiv engine strategy, following the 2.5-liter gasoline engine that is already widely used across the Mazda’s lineup. The diesel, called Skyactiv-D, creates about 148 hp and 280 lb-ft in the European-spec Mazda6.

Despite these setbacks, Mazda hasn’t given up on bringing diesel vehicles to the U.S. “We’re still committed to bringing diesel to North America,” says Robert Davis, senior vice president, Mazda US Operations. “It separates us from the other Japanese manufacturers and it allows us to compete with Germany near-luxury cars.”

For now we’ll be waiting on that ‘zoom zoom’, and in the meantime, stop by Steet Ponte Mazda to check out the 2.5-liter gasoline engine Mazda 6, which is pretty darn impressive in its own right!

SKYACTIV Technology More Popular than Ever; Over 1 Million Vehicles Produced

2014 Mazda6 SKYACTIVMazda’s SKYACTIV technology is that rarest of products: a product where the execution of an idea actually surpasses the brilliance of the original idea. SKYACTIV technology encompasses a wide range of adjustments to Mazda vehicles, all of which are designed to improve the environmental impact and safety record of these vehicles without sacrificing the “zoom-zoom” power that’s always made Mazda famous.

Customers have responded in extremely positive ways to SKYACTIV technologies, as more than 1 million vehicles equipped with these technologies have now been produced as of March 2014. Three current Mazdas feature the whole SKYACTIV suite, the Mazda CX-5, Mazda6, and Mazda3. Together, 1,040,000 of these vehicles have been produced as of the end of March.

All three vehicles feature better engines and transmissions and reduced overall weight to improve fuel economy. Plus, with Mazda’s new KODO-Soul of Motion design language, these vehicles look just as good as they drive.

“At Mazda we put everything into developing our SKYACTIV vehicles, and it is because these models have struck a chord with a wide range of customers all over the world that we have reached the one million-unit landmark” Masamichi Kogai, Representative Director, President and CEO of Mazda, said. “On behalf of Mazda, let me express my gratitude to each and every person who bought one of our cars. With our undying challenging spirit and a great deal of hard work, Mazda will continue to make even more appealing cars that will enrich the lives of their owners, and help us build a strong and lasting bond with our customers.”

If you’re looking for a car whose internal organs beat with a human pulse, a pulse that aims to treat the environment and the road with equal respect, you’re looking for one of Steet Ponte Mazda’s SKYACTIV-equipped vehicles. See you soon!
