Mazda3 Named to KBB’s 10 Coolest Cars Under 18k

2015 Mazda3 - 10 Coolest Cars Under 18kFor the second consecutive year, the Mazda3 has been named the number one vehicle on Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com 10 Coolest Cars Under 18k list! The exciting news adds to the Mazda’s already cool, sophisticated appeal.

The top ten cars for the list were selected based on two items: how fun they are to drive and if they’re fun to own. KBB.com considers the two criteria to be major factors when judging a car on its “coolness.” KBB.com judges were extremely impressed after last year’s remodel and were equally as impressed with the Mazda3 again in 2015.

The Mazda has a lot more going for it than just its cool factor as well; it’s, of course, under $18k starting at just $16,945. It also includes a host of technologies including SKYACTIV engine options, i-ELOOP which boosts the Mazda3’s fuel efficiency, Mazda Connect infotainment system, and i-ACTIVESENSE safety system.

The 2015 Mazda3 is available now at Street Ponte Mazda if you’re interested in taking a test-drive in one of the coolest and most valuable sedans around!

Car Brand Report Card Earns Mazda Second Place among Automakers

Often, we view vehicles as either having exhilarating performance but lacking reliability, or as reliable models that are boring to drive. Consumer Reports’ annual Car Brand Report Card proves that it is indeed possible to unite performance and reliability. As a matter of fact, Mazda’s report card landed the automaker in second place on the 2015 list.

Vehicles are ranked based on both their road-test scores and their projected reliability. The road-test score is achieved through evaluating factors such as fuel-efficiency, driving and handling, and refinement.

Car Brand Report Card - Mazda3The Mazda brand was recognized overall, and the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5 were distinguished as standout models specifically recommended by the publication.

“SKYACTIV Technology sets Mazda apart, with strong, lightweight and efficient engineering that instills excellent fuel economy and standout handling in everyone of our new-generation vehicles,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO of Mazda North American Operations. “Our innovation prowess allows us to keep pushing boundaries with our dramatic KODO — Soul of Motion designs and first-class technology and features, and we’re proud to be recognized for our efforts.”

Mazda 2014 Sales Numbers Best in 20 Years

It looks like Mazda can look back on 2014 with some fond memories. The Japanese carmaker recently announced that Mazda 2014 sales were the best the company has recorded since 1994. Over the course of last year, Mazda boasted a 7.7% increase in sales since 2013 after selling a total of 305,802 units in both the fleet and retail sector.

Mazda 2014 Sales - 2015 Mazda CX-5“2014 can only be described as historical when it comes to Mazda sales,” said Ron Stettner, vice president of sales for Mazda North America. “Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5 have out-performed all year and, as a result, we surpassed 300,000 vehicle sales for the first time since 1994. The support of our dealers, along with the strongest, most-competitive showroom we have ever offered is the driving force behind our success; I’m confident we’ll continue this momentum through 2015 and beyond.”

Helping Mazda achieve these great sales numbers was the Mazda3, which recorded its second best December sales last month after selling 9,719 units. The CX-5 also made a lasting impression, almost selling 100,000 vehicles in 2014, which was a 24.6% increase in sales compared to 2013.

Mazda Is Introducing Drastic Changes, Some Quicker Than Others

Mazda3 - Mazda introducing drastic changesMazda is introducing drastic changes that you don’t want to miss! Giving vehicles multiple upgrades within a year’s time is not extremely typical in the auto industry. Usually a change here and there will be made from one model to the next, but nothing that is too enormous.

Auto News reports that Mazda, though, is shaking things up. The automaker is planning to make significant upgrades in a short time span, with some vehicles even “undergoing major changes in back-to-back years.” For example, the Mazda6 will be getting a new and improved interior in 2015, and then will turn right around and receive brand new sheet metal in 2016.

Mazda is currently in the midst of their “sixth-generation” product, which uses Skyactiv technology. This platform will be used in all new models up until 2018.  Then the seventh-generation will begin, for which Mazda will unveil brand new platforms. Mazda will also install the aforementioned sheet metal onto all of its seventh-generation vehicles, beginning with the Mazda3.

Here at Steet Ponte Mazda, we can’t wait to see what other major changes Mazda rolls out next! In the meantime, stop by to test out some of Mazda’s current generation of great cars.

  • New or Used. This is the first question you need to ask. While used cars generally offer the best value, new cars will give you top-of-the-line safety features and technological updates.

Hazumi Concept Previews New Compact between Mazda2 and Mazda3

When the Mazda Hazumi Concept debuted at the Geneva Motor Show, everyone—including us here at Steet Ponte Mazda—simply assumed that it was the precursor to the new Mazda2. However, new information has now come to light that has us even more excited about the Hazumi and has sent us back to study the Concept in more detail.

2014 Mazda2Here’s why: a Mazda insider told Motor Trend that it’s not actually the Mazda2 that the Hazumi concept primarily prefigures. Apparently, we’ve been looking right at an all-new Mazda vehicle, a global compact car model, for months without even knowing it.

“Firstly, in contrast to the Hazumi’s width of 1730 mm, the production Mazda2 will not exceed 1700 mm,” the Mazda insider said, detailing the differences between the Mazda2 and the Concept. And the road-going Mazda2’s wheelbase will not stretch by 95 mm as you see on the concept car either. Sure, the Hazumi includes some direction towards the Mazda2, but it is also hinting at something other than a Mazda2.”

If that doesn’t get you excited to watch the Mazda news over the next few months, we’re just not sure what will! If you want to check out the Mazda2 or talk about the Hazumi with us, please come in and see us today!

SKYACTIV Technology More Popular than Ever; Over 1 Million Vehicles Produced

2014 Mazda6 SKYACTIVMazda’s SKYACTIV technology is that rarest of products: a product where the execution of an idea actually surpasses the brilliance of the original idea. SKYACTIV technology encompasses a wide range of adjustments to Mazda vehicles, all of which are designed to improve the environmental impact and safety record of these vehicles without sacrificing the “zoom-zoom” power that’s always made Mazda famous.

Customers have responded in extremely positive ways to SKYACTIV technologies, as more than 1 million vehicles equipped with these technologies have now been produced as of March 2014. Three current Mazdas feature the whole SKYACTIV suite, the Mazda CX-5, Mazda6, and Mazda3. Together, 1,040,000 of these vehicles have been produced as of the end of March.

All three vehicles feature better engines and transmissions and reduced overall weight to improve fuel economy. Plus, with Mazda’s new KODO-Soul of Motion design language, these vehicles look just as good as they drive.

“At Mazda we put everything into developing our SKYACTIV vehicles, and it is because these models have struck a chord with a wide range of customers all over the world that we have reached the one million-unit landmark” Masamichi Kogai, Representative Director, President and CEO of Mazda, said. “On behalf of Mazda, let me express my gratitude to each and every person who bought one of our cars. With our undying challenging spirit and a great deal of hard work, Mazda will continue to make even more appealing cars that will enrich the lives of their owners, and help us build a strong and lasting bond with our customers.”

If you’re looking for a car whose internal organs beat with a human pulse, a pulse that aims to treat the environment and the road with equal respect, you’re looking for one of Steet Ponte Mazda’s SKYACTIV-equipped vehicles. See you soon!
